Aims of the Foundation

• To commemorate completed projects and buildings that never made it to the construction stage and to establish a corpus of data for future generations
• To encourage, support and carry out research
• To promote the development and application of recognised instruments for conducting architectural and engineering competitions
• To record all stages of competitions, from their preparatory phase to the completion of the constructed building.
• To create a network of institutions active in the same domain
• To open up existing public and private archives and collections and present their contents to the public or interested specialists
• To create a forum for exchanges between the parties interested in such information


Areas of activity

• To take care of documentation and establishment of an archive of architectural and engineering competitions and of the history of competition practices and the laws governing them
• To safeguard and process knowledge and make it accessible
• To open up and interconnect existing collections and archives
• To catalogue the literature and case studies
• To create a physical archive of selected documents (e.g. plans, reports and models)
• To create a virtual archive (database)
• To organise events, discussion forums and exhibitions relating to competitions

• Reports to the Swiss Federal Department of Home Affairs
• Listed in the Canton of Zurich's trade register
